Anyone who has ever tried to break a small habit can on a very basic level appreciate the seriousness of fighting addiction. For those within the throes of a serious addition, getting over the problem will be a lifelong pursuit. Whether it’s caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, opiate or even gambling, addiction is a difficult battle to face. Overcoming an addiction, especially an opiate addiction, requires the full cooperation and dedication from the person with the addiction.Opiates are some of the most difficult drugs, including Vicodin, in the world to detox successfully from. The powerful drug family is derived from the opium poppy and it creates such drugs as heroin and morphine. Opiate addiction and Vicodin addiction are difficult -yet possible- to overcome. Detox from this particular class of drugs isn’t like quitting coffee cold turkey either. There are some serious opiate withdrawal symptoms that often require medical attention to help a person endure. The biggest step in coming clean, however, is the individual’s decision to do so.

There are some methods used to overcome opiate addiction. One of them is by using Suboxone. Suboxone was introduced to the public only a short time ago. While it has been on the market it has mad tremendous impact on the opiate dependant population. It has been reported that there is an estimated 1.1 million intravenous opiate user’s world wide. And since this new drug has been introduced that population has been dramatically decreasing in size. Suboxone (an alternative to Methadone) was created for the user to be able to avoid withdrawal symptoms while in the mean time during treatment rebuilding the receptors in the brain that have been destroyed while using narcotics.

Getting over an opiate addiction is a lifelong pursuit that will take dedication and cooperation. This very powerful class of drugs can grab a hold of a person and take over their lives. Detoxification can bring their lives back.
